What do Daniel Wang and Royksopp have in common? They write nice things like this about Internasjonal’s (not so) new talent kid on the block, Polish superproducer Maximilian Skiba! The Balihu boss heard a promo of this an instantly took to instagram with this review, “Music from a very good young polish producer, warm chords, funky melodies, think “bass and guitars by Chic meeting a string section by Beethoven, with a touch of italo-disco and almost flamenco-like soul” while Royksopp sent Internasjonal the following fax, “He produces very nice italo disco tracks, i’m a fan”. Well they’re not wrong, “Shanghouse” is a beauty. All the elements Mr Wang so accurately identified come together gradually into one euphoric burst of life affirming sound as the track gives you a sweat-drenched hug, a chemically assisted smooch and sends you on your merry way. On the A2, Piccadilly favourite Thomas Hermansen gets his edit on, reworking Skiba’s “Kosakat” into a dark and menacing cosmic techno cut that’d be right at home on his new Rett I Fletta imprint. If you’re worried about coming to some sort of zero gravity harm, don’t fret, Thomas applies just the right amount of electro rhythm and wormhole funk to give you room to breathe. Things get extra special on the flipside as Mancuso and Levan approved legend Victor Rosado takes “Shanghouse” on a spiritual voyage through about 30 years of dancefloor memories. Taking a more organic approach, Rosado shifts the focus onto those latin pianos and gospel vocals for a truly uplifting experience. You couldn’t ask for more!
