After another terrific year for Berlin’s mighty Get Physical Music, the label looks back on some of the many highlights with its annual The Best Of Get Physical collection. The 19 track selection takes in associates old and new including m.O.N.R.O.E., Kate Simko, Bruce Loko, Pezzner, WhoMadeWho and Ed Ed amongst many more.

Once again in 2020, Get Physical has lead from the front with a continued focus on exciting house producers from Croatia, South Africa and India, as well as serving up the best new artists from Latin America on sister label Cocada Music. Next to that European giants like DJ T. and M.A.N.D.Y. have also returned to the imprint and ensured its output remained as fresh as any label in the scene.

This new compilation kicks off with Elias (GER) who links with Boule Mpanya for the African tribalism of ‘Bina’ before Thandi Draai serves up a spine-tingling deep vocal house tune in ‘Iris’ and Santiago Garcia & Animal Picnic join forces for a remix of WhoMadeWho’s ‘Hi & Low’ that is a cosmic house adventure. Then comes ‘I Get Deep’ – one of house’s most classic anthems as remixed by Ed Ed, and a modern gem from label stalwart Pezzner with his loose-limbed post-disco wobbler ‘I Am You’. There are more exotic sounding vocal grooves from Yulia Niko feat Coro Coro, fine turns from Get Physical’s Creative Director Roland Leesker and gorgeous, string-laced techno elegance from Chicago’s Kate Simko.

Things get deep and heads down when Gel Abril appears with ‘Sweet Vibration’ and that vibe continues with red hot tracks from m.O.N.R.O.E. and Monkey Safari. PALMFooD, DJ Clock and Liam Mockridge and Lowheads all lift spirits with their lush and soulful sounds and the collection plays out with fresh takes on classy contemporary house from Cook Strummer, Metatext and jazzy house maestro Atjazz before a pair of beautifully organic South African house cuts from Blanka Mazimela feat Korus and Sobantwana, and Bruce Loko feat Biishop, close things down in memorable fashion.

This collection tells the story of another impressive year for Get Physical as well as very much plotting the course of house music’s evolution over the last 12 months.
